International Building Code Adoptions of ES-1 Roof Edge Standard
The 2003 & 2006 International Building Code includes the ANSI/SPRI ES-1 Roof Edge Standard in Section 1504.5 "Edge Securement for Low Slope Roofs"
Some version of the International Building Code (IBC), including the ES-1 roof edge securement standard has now been adopted by 45 states, Washington DC, the Dept. of Defense, General Services Administration, the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service and the Veterans Administration. More and more states are updating to the 2003 or 2006 IBC version.
The 2003 & 2006 IBC requires that roof edges be tested in accordance with the ES-1 Roof Edge Standard. Click here for a copy of the Standard (PDF). For more information about the standard SPRI has provided a quick reference guide entitled "Why ES-1?"
