The W.P. Hickman Company has been in existence since 1945 - in fact we created the prefabricated metal edge industry and were awarded the very first patent for metal edging back in 1960 - plus another two dozen patents since then. Our employees have great passion for what we do and collectively we have over 500 years of industry experience. Our average employee has been with us for more than 10 years and has a deep understanding of metal roof edges.

Custom Capabilities - we love working on your unique projects.

Some manufacturers want to make and sell only standard products in a limited number of configurations. We're delighted to manufacture just about any product you can envision - we'll even help you design a product if you need assistance. Our production team is truly a group of artisans - they've been known to put their signatures on the interior surfaces of especially complex projects. Aesthetics - not just another pretty face.

We know that the edge of a building is like the frame around a picture - if the frame doesn't look good then the picture suffers. We offer a wide range of standard colors, gauges and finishes. If none of these suit you we have an even wider palate of premium colors, materials and finishes, with slightly longer lead times. You'll be pleased with how our edge enhances the look of your building.

Performance - the Three Little Pigs should have used our edge.

The most important role of edge is to keep the roof of your building on and the weather out. This is our primary product design criterion - in fact it is embedded in our corporate mission and we believe that nobody is more effective at achieving this than we are. We haven't had a performance related warranty claim in years.

Warranties - if something goes wrong, we stand behind our work.

Our products carry warranties of up to 25 years. It's pretty rare that we have a product failure but, if it occurs, we'll stand behind our product. We've been in business for over 60 years, and have every intention of being around for at least another 60, so we'll be there to honor our warranties.

Industry Standards - we meet or exceed them.

We design our products to comply with the ES-1 "Wind Design Standard for Edge Systems Used with Low Slope Roofing Systems," as required by the International Building Code. We were the first company to receive ES-1 Classification from Underwriters Laboratories Inc.®, and we are active in helping the industry to continue to evolve wind edge standards and testing. We have our own in-house ES-1 testing capabilities so we can even test custom designs that you may want to develop. Our products are also FM tested and comply with the Florida Building Code - in fact, we were the first edge manufacturer to receive Florida Product Approval from the Florida Building Commission.

Easy Installation - because there are better ways to spend time than beating on a roof edge with a rubber mallet.

Our products are designed with the contractor in mind: Easy - and safe - to install. Plus we offer a number of paper and web-based guides and instructional tools designed to facilitate the installation process.

Timely Delivery - gets there quickly, when you expect it.

We recognize that the roof edge is sometimes the last step prior to project completion. And we know it's expensive to have construction crews standing around waiting for material. We've invested heavily in reducing our leadtimes and are proud of our delivery track record, even during the busier times of the year. In 2009 W.P.Hickman products were shipped within the standard, published leadtimes 99.3% of the time.
